Okra stamped Hydrangeas

June is here, and with it comes warm sunshine, blooming flowers, and fresh garden vegetables. This month in our preschool, we’re exploring “Vegetables ” theme—introducing children to the colors, textures, and shapes of everyday veggies.🥦🥒🍆

Also, we can spot Hydrangeas, one of June’s most beautiful blooming flowers everywhere these days. Therefore, for today’s activity we combined both in a creative and hands-on way, we did Okra Stamping to Make Hydrangea Flowers.

We start by talking to the children about okra, what it looks like inside, and then, we introduce them to the hydrangea, showing picture example. The excitement begins when they realize the sliced okra makes a flower shape, just like a hydrangea bloom!

Children dip their okra pieces into colorful paint and stamp them on paper in clusters to form a “hydrangea ball.” There’s no right or wrong way—some stamped more, others less. It’s about enjoying the process and seeing the shapes appear.

Then we let it dry and once dry, we added green leaves to complete our hydrangeas.

This Okra Stamped Hydrangea Craft is more than just a pretty picture—it’s a playful way to connect to nature, sensory awareness and celebrate June’s seasonal beauty.

We loved seeing the smiles as they pressed down the okra on the page.

Hope you too will enjoy talking about today’s activity and admiring the creativity of our little learners.

Thank you

See you next week
